Carbon Trading

Carbonbay is developing a global portfolio of wind, hydro, biomass and solar power projects to help curb climate change. The portfolio currently comprises 11 programs with 39 operational projects in 8 countries. The projects certified by the United Nations include, among others, a wind power plant in Costa Rica, and the biogas plant in Namakkal, India operated by sister company Mabagas. The portfolio projects currently in operation collectively prevent 430,000 tons of CO2 emissions a year.

Most of them are operated in the form of programs of activities, in which smaller measures within a region are pooled into one project. For instance, the Guacamaya program in Honduras, which is certified according to the UN-supervised CDM (Clean Development Mechanism) and, in addition, certified compliant with the even more stringent Gold Standard, was extended by a further six micro-hydropower plants in the fall of 2014. In India, nearly 50,000 domestic solar thermal systems have been installed since 2012 in collaboration with local partners.
