Oiltanking, a subsidiary of Marquard & Bahls, has been active in tank storage logistics since 1972, and is the second-largest independent operator of tank terminals for oils, chemicals and gases worldwide. The company owns and operates 79 terminals in 24 countries with a total storage capacity of 21 million cbm, on five continents – in Europe, North America, Latin America, the Middle East, Africa, India, and the Asia-Pacific region.

At the tank terminals, Oiltanking stores and handles nearly 1,000 different products including crude oil, petroleum products, biofuels, chemicals and gases. The total throughput of all terminals in 2016 was around 157 million tons.

The decline in 2013-2014 resulted from the sale of three terminals.

Oiltanking has a strong customer orientation and provides tailor-made infrastructure. Its focus is on safe, efficient and reliable services in constructing and operating its facilities.

Besides tank storage, Oiltanking is active in the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of tank terminals, pipelines, refineries and power plants. The Indian subsidiary IOT Infrastructure & Energy Services is a leading EPC company in India, and also active in other parts of Asia. Oiltanking’s global experience is incorporated into the design, ensuring that the synergies between Oiltanking and IOT are effectively leveraged.

In 2016, approx. 4,000 employees worked for Oiltanking.
