Together through the Corona Crisis

From the early days of the corona crisis we have monitored the impacts of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) proactively, defining travel restrictions and a wide range of preventive measures, as the health and safety of our employees and their families is top priority for us, deeply rooted in our values. We are taking every effort to protect our employees while our Operating Units deliver their services. A joint crisis management team also with representatives of the Operating Units has been and is continuously coordinating all efforts to manage this challenging situation. It goes without saying that we comply with all government regulations.
We have enabled working from home wherever possible and have implemented shift-based work for critical teams. On operational sites, existing shift systems have been adopted, in order to minimize chances of virus spread. Until the situation stabilizes, we will not participate in any conferences or events, as we have stopped all our travel activities. We will also not be meeting visitors at our headquarters and global offices. It goes without saying that our employees are offered high standards of hygiene.
Caring for Our Employees
The challenging situation resulted in a lot of great initiatives. We support employees by offering a food delivery service free of charge for people living close to Hamburg headquarters. By this, we aim to support families to combine homeschooling their children while carrying out their professional work but also employees with higher-risk profile who want to avoid going to the supermarket. To ensure that during the home office period there is an opportunity to remain active and fit and to give the day a certain structure with fixed times, online "live" training sessions by professional trainers are offered. Further online trainings are offered that e.g. give guidance for ergonomic and healthy work from home. There are also many initiatives in our Operating Units, which we share on our intranet, websites and social media channels.
Serving Our Business Partners
We have sites in many affected countries, but our Operating Units continue to operate all activities - including our more complex gas and chemical sites - safely. Given our modern systems and sound business continuity plans, we are confident that our services will continue to run smoothly, although our ability to deliver our services may be reduced in accordance with local guidance and travel restrictions. However, our business partners can still reach us via the known phone numbers, via email and we will be available for virtual meetings as well.
We can all make our contribution to society in terms of slowing down the spread of COVID-19 by consequently keeping social distance while maintaining essential activities.
