Joint Initiative "Hamburg packt's zusammen!"

North German companies are launching a joint aid campaign to provide support in the Corona crisis. Under the title "Hamburg packt's zusammen!", the initiative is packing and distributing at least 20,000 bags to people in the greater Hamburg area who are in need as a result of the pandemic and the lockdown.

Many population groups are particularly affected by the Corona Pandemic 2020: Revenues are collapsing, support services are pausing, schools, daycare centers and other institutions are completely or for the most part still closed. Despite various aid measures, for many people including those in the greater Hamburg area, this means that their living conditions have drastically worsened and lasting solidarity is needed. Now well-known companies such as about you, Aurubis, Beiersdorf, Budni, Edding, Edeka Nord, Gruner + Jahr, Hamburger Hochbahn AG, Hapag-Lloyd, H&M, Marquard & Bahls, Meßmer (Ostfriesische Tee Gesellschaft), Nutrisun, Scholz & Friends, Tchibo and tesa have joined forces for an extraordinary initiative to counter the plight with at least 20,000 "care bags". Other partners have also pledged their support for the initiative.

The contents of the bags are provided by the company partners: In addition to hygiene articles, clothing, colored pencils, tesafilm and magazines, also tea, bars, coffee and other durable foods are to be provided. The non-profit organization Hanseatic Help e.V. as cooperation partner takes over the logistics and ensures that the bags are put together. "The Corona crisis affects different social groups in various ways. Therefore, we want to support families with small and older children, single parents, elderly people, homeless people, refugees and students with bags filled according to their needs," says Claudia Meister of Hanseatic Help.

Non-profit organizations and institutions that directly serve people, e.g. by providing contact points, distribution stations or visits at the front door, can contact Hanseatic Help with their needs and will probably be provided with bags accordingly from May 26. Prior to this, a large joint packing campaign will take place in the Budni warehouse with representatives of the participating companies, in compliance with the current distance rules. Since the emergency situation caused by the Corona situation will not change again at short term, "Hamburg packt's zusammen!" is designed for a longer period of time.

All companies, large and small, are welcome to participate in 'Hamburg packt's zusammen' with contributions in kind or donations. Private individuals can also show their solidarity and support "Packing up the bags": With a package sponsorship in the form of a 10 Euro donation to Hanseatic Help. Keyword "I help packing".
